The office of Arizona Governor Jan Brewer has refuted a report that she has already made up her mind and will veto a bill passed by the state legislature giving businesses the freedom to refuse to serve LGBT individuals.
One source close to the governor reportedly told NBC that Brewer would veto the bill because she “doesn’t want to take any actions that could jeopardize the economic momentum” in the state, but a spokesperson for Brewer sent a statement to Business Insider saying that Brewer has not made her final decision on the matter yet.
“Governor Brewer hasn’t yet made a decision… The Senate transmitted its bill to our office yesterday while the Governor was in DC. When she returns, she will take the time necessary to thoroughly review and evaluate the legislation before taking action.”
The bill has received significant pushback from Arizona businesses so far, including from the Arizona Chamber of Commerce.
