Before Midterm Polls Close, Obama Announces Meeting with Congressional Leaders
President Obama on Tuesday, before all the midterm election results were completely in, called for Congressional leaders in both parties and in both the House and Senate to meet with him at the end of the week, according to a White House pool report.
The report said that Obama has “invited” Congressional leadership to meet Friday and that more details on the scheduled meeting are forthcoming.
It is not a given that the meeting will definitely take place, however. After the 2010 midterm elections, which saw big gains for Republicans, Obama planned to host a similar meeting but schedules for the White House as well as for Congressional leadership did not immediately match up. It was another few weeks before it took place.
Even though full results are not available as of writing this post, Republicans are widely expected to take control of the Senate and maintain power over the House.
