The House Select Committee on Benghazi has officially requested that Hillary Clinton turn over her private email server to a third party. Committee chair Trey Gowdy sent a letter to Clinton calling for the server so they can do a thorough vetting of the emails Clinton sent on her personal account while she was Secretary of State.
Gowdy, who previously said he wants Clinton to testify to the committee on the emails, said, “In the interest of transparency for the American people, I am formally requesting she turn the server over to the State Department’s inspector general or a mutually agreeable third party.”
He says such a review would be “an eminently fair and reasonable means to determine what should be made public,” rather than assuming Clinton’s team handed over all relevant material.
The Benghazi Committee’s request is in addition to an investigation into the emails announced by John Boehner.
