In his speech at Cornell University today, Joe Biden made some points for the graduates.
It’s worth examining one of the sentiments a little closer.
He shared his thoughts on the election we all weathered last year. Specifically, he said, “This past election season churned up some of the ugliest realities that still remain in our country. Civilized discourse and real debate gave way to the coarsest rhetoric stroking our darkest emotions.”
Certainly, we can see examples of that. Just last night, two men were stabbed to death after allegedly intervening when a white supremacist berated two Muslim women on a public train.
Take heart, though. As we told you this morning, he also assured listeners it was a temporary state of affairs.
