Vice President Joe Biden will be appearing in person at the Oscars this coming Sunday to introduce Lady Gaga.
Yes, you read that right. That is actually happening.
Now, lest you think Biden’s just showing up for the fun of it, they’re actually both there for a serious reason. According to Deadline, the vice president will be introducing Gaga before she performs “Til It Happens to You,” a song from the acclaimed campus rape documentary The Hunting Ground.
The song and music video released last year delve into the pain of victims of sexual assault.
Biden has been very vocal for years about preventing the abuse of women––as senator he introduced and pushed for the Violence Against Women Act––and just months ago was delivering multiple impassioned speeches about stopping the spread of rape on college campuses.
First Lady Michelle Obama appeared at the Oscars––albeit on video––in 2013 to announce Argo as the Best Picture winner.
You can watch the music video for Gaga’s song above.
