Boston Marathon Bombing Banners Are the New White and Gold/Blue and Black Dress


Just when you thought the debate over the white and gold/blue and black dress was over, the city of Boston is ready to pull you back in. As Los Angeles Times reporter Matt Pearce pointed out on Twitter Wednesday afternoon, new banners erected to commemorate the second anniversary of the Boston Marathon bombings appear to create the same optical illusion that nearly tore the country apart earlier this year:

Another, better lit photo of the unveiling shows a more definitive white and gold color scheme:

For what it’s worth, I see a white heart on a gold background in the picture at the top of this post, but an informal survey of the Mediaite staff demonstrated that it is also possible to see the banners as blue on black. However, there was a general consensus of “Please, God, not again.”
