Huckabee was the winner of the 2008 Iowa Caucus for the Republican nomination and was hoping for a repeat success this year in the Hawkeye State. His large Evangelical appeal eight years ago largely backed Texas Senator Ted Cruz today in Iowa. The latest national polling data from Real Clear Politics indicated that Governor Huckabee was polling ninth in the GOP race.
