BREAKING: Trump Says John Kelly Is Leaving the White House at End of the Year

President Donald Trump told reporters Saturday that White House Chief ofStaff John Kelly is leaving the White House before the end of the year.

“John Kelly will be leaving — I don’t know if I can say retiring, but he’s a great guy — John Kelly will be leaving at the end of the year,” Trump said on the White House lawn, before heading to the Army-Navy football game in Philadelphia.

“We’ll be announcing who will be taking John’s place,” the president added. “I’ll be announcing that over the next day or two.”

“I appreciate his service very much,” Trump said.

The announcement follows reporting yesterday that Kelly, the former Homeland Security secretary, is on the way out. Nick Ayers, the vice president’s chief of staff, is expected to be his successor.
