Brian Williams on Rigged Election Claims: ‘A Disqualifying Moment For Americans’ Who ‘Respect a Peaceful Transition’

brianwilliamsThe first few moments of MSNBC’s post-election coverage were subdued. Almost somber. Co-anchors Brian Williams and Rachel Maddow both seemed to be stunned by Donald Trump‘s refusal to commit to honoring the results of the election.

“The disqualifying moment for Americans who believe in and respect a peaceful transition of power came along with an audience gasp in the room when Donald Trump refused under direct questioning to say he would honor the outcome of the election, the will of the voters,” Williams said.

Rachel Maddow called Trump’s rigged election claims, “the moment of this debate, maybe the moment of this whole portion of the campaign.”

She added: “It’s hard to extract the policy fights out of an atmosphere created by that moment.”
