C Is for Child Propaganda: German Neo-Nazis Using Cookie Monster to Indoctrinate Kids

Beloved Sesame Street character Cookie Monster has become a Neo-Nazi tool. Yes, Neo-Nazis are using the image of the cookie-obsessed creature “to spread right-wing ideology among students in a local high-school,” NBC News reports. The police arrested a Neo-Nazi who was apparently going around in a Cookie Monster costume handing out “To Be German is Cool” leaflets.

The police checked the computers of the Neo-Nazi Cookie Monster and an accomplice, discovering an image of Cookie Monster alongside Adolf Hitler with the caption “Who ate my biscuit.” Classic German comedy right there.

A police spokesperson explained, “These extremists are trying to trivialize their dangerous ideology by using simple language, by creating ironic cartoons and by increasingly using social media to reach adolescents.”

Now, this Cookie-Monster-in-Germany thing isn’t a new thing. In what may or may not be related to this particular case, last year someone dressed as Cookie Monster stole a local bakery’s prized golden biscuit emblem and demanded in a ransom note that the bakery give biscuits to hospitalized children and donate a reward for the emblem’s return to a local animal home. Here’s the photo that accompanied the note:
