Cam Newton Rolls His Eyes at Reporter’s Question, Storms Out of Presser

Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton has made headlines with his press conferences throughout the 2017 season. First, he belittled a female reporter. Then he failed to show up for his league-mandated weekly media session.

The former NFL MVP was back at the podium Wednesday — but not for long.

Nine minutes into Newton’s press conference, the Charlotte Observer’s Joe Person asked Newton the following (via the New York Post:

“The big plays, the big chunk plays that get you that energy you’re talking about, is this offense — I know you had several at Detroit and New England — do you guys have the wherewithal to do that consistently, week in and week out?”

The Panthers signal caller rolled his eyes at the query.

“Next question,” he said.

Then, he promptly stormed off.

“Cam didn’t intend to be discourteous toward any specific media member,” Panthers spokesman Steven Drummond said (in a statement via ESPN). “In his mind, after answering questions for nine minutes he had fulfilled his obligations.”

We suspect the NFL — which may still fine Newton for his previous missed session — might see the matter differently.
