In the wake of the horrific school shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, FL, students are required to carry clear backpacks, ostensibly as a safety measure.
Many Stoneman Douglas think this is – to put it mildly – a really stupid idea, and have said so on Twitter. Among them, freshman Lauren Hogg and senior Carmen Lo:
But junior Cameron Kasky – who became one of the breakout stars of the #NeverAgain movement when he asked Sen. Marco Rubio point blank whether he will refuse contributions to his campaign from the NRA – had perhaps the greatest clap-back to the school’s new policy.
To demonstrate the policy’s invasion of privacy, Kasky tweeted a selfie with his clear backpack stuffed with a whole heck of a lot of tampons:
Fellow Parkland survivor and activist Delaney Tarr responded to the tweet noting what she saw as the one positive outcome of the new clear backpack requirement:
