Chris Christie Says He Declined Trump White House Job Because Wife Wouldn’t Move to Washington
During a guest-hosting spot on the Boomer and Carton sports radio program, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie explained that the White House posts offered to him by President-elect Donald Trump just weren’t good enough for him to move to Washington, especially since his wife would go with him.
Speaking to host Craig Carton, Christie noted that Mary Pat Christie made it known to him that she wouldn’t follow him if he were to accept a job in the Trump Administration.
“He didn’t offer me a job that I thought was exciting enough for me to leave the governorship, and my family,” the governor told Carton. “Because Mary Pat made really clear she wasn’t coming to D.C.”
It was reported last month that the Trump transition team offered Christie Cabinet spots like heading up either Homeland Security or Veterans Affairs along with a White House aide position, all of which Christie turned down.
An article in Politico earlier this week also stated that Christie would be looked at as a potential replacement if any of Trump’s original Cabinet picks quit or were fired.
