Chris Cuomo, Jim Jordan Lock Horns Over Demand for Special Counsel on Clinton: ‘Political Spitball Contest’
Chris Cuomo had a heated exchange with Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) Tuesday, as the two debated whether today’s questioning of Attorney General Jeff Sessions in the House Judiciary Committee ought to be focused on Donald Trump Jr. and his connections with WikiLeaks.
Jordan, who sits on the committee, said he looked forward to learning more about the Attorney General’s plans for a special counsel on Hillary Clinton. While those are not yet definite, Jordan said he would nudge Sessions in that direction since recent developments pertaining to Clinton, the Uranium One deal and Fusion GPS necessitate an investigation.
From there, Cuomo brought up Don Jr.’s correspondence with WikiLeaks and asked Jordan why he isn’t putting more of a priority on that than the politically vanquished Clinton. This led to a contentious exchange where Jordan insisted that the Fusion GPS dossier is the bigger deal since it was supposedly the basis of the FISA warrant which allowed investigators to look into the Trump team.
“What I want to know is who is going to look into the fact that the DNC and the Clinton campaign financed through their law firm, Fusion GPS, to put together the dossier,” said Jordan. “It sure looks like that dossier became the basis that was presented to the FISA court to get a warrant to spy an Americans associated with the Trump campaign.”
As the two continued to butt heads over whether this indicates “collusion” from the Clinton campaign, Cuomo wanted to know the end to which Jordan wanted the matter investigated. “It sounds like just a political spitball contest,” Cuomo said, and he and Jordan continued to tussle over whether Robert Mueller‘s integrity is compromised due to his link to the Uranium One deal.
