It hasn’t been much more than an hour since news broke that South African comedian Trevor Noah will succeed Jon Stewart as host of The Daily Show some time later this year. But the congratulatory messages are already pouring in on Twitter.
This tweet, from comedian Chris Rock, whose name was tossed around as a long-shot candidate for the gig, is definitely the most pointed response so far, earning a retweet from Noah:

Other comedians and media figures have been offering their takes as well. Below are some highlights:

I know Trevor Noah a bit. Nice guy. I'm sure won't mind letting me host the Daily Show instead of him.

I have to be honest, I didn't know Trevor Noah by name this morning, only his face–http://t.co/pT4ltbck8a good luck!

Then there was this message from the man himself, who insists he’s not trying to “replace” Stewart:
No-one can replace Jon Stewart. But together with the amazing team at The Daily Show, we will continue to make this the best damn news show!
