Chuck Schumer Defends Kirsten Gillibrand, Rips Trump for ‘Nasty’ Tweet
— This Week (@ThisWeekABC) December 12, 2017
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer defended fellow New York Democrat Kirsten Gillibrand over President Trump’s “nasty” tweet about her this morning (which also invoked Schumer):
Lightweight Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, a total flunky for Chuck Schumer and someone who would come to my office “begging” for campaign contributions not so long ago (and would do anything for them), is now in the ring fighting against Trump. Very disloyal to Bill & Crooked-USED!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) December 12, 2017
Gillibrand, who made waves yesterday after saying the President should resign over the allegations against him, fired back:
You cannot silence me or the millions of women who have gotten off the sidelines to speak out about the unfitness and shame you have brought to the Oval Office. https://t.co/UbQZqubXZv

A number of Democrats have come to Gillibrand’s defense, and this afternoon Schumer said Trump’s tweet was “nasty.”
He called it “unbecoming of a President” and reiterated, “The President needs to cut it out with the tweeting! He ought to stop tweeting and start leading.”
