Retired U.S. Air Force General and famed test pilot Chuck Yeager is writing the greatest Twitter account that you’re not reading.
Yeager is, of course, the highly decorated pilot who broke the sound barrier in Oct. 1947 when he flew the X-1 at Mach 1.07 over the Mojave Desert. His exploits were chronicled in the book The Right Stuff and its film adaptation where he was portrayed by Sam Shepard. Yeager has also penned two autobiographies.
But he is more recently the dispenser of no-nonsense advice, insidery anecdotes, insights and opinions on everything from aviation to baseball to wild game, and snippets of hard-won wisdom in the form of a series of succinct, often hilarious, tweets.
In fact, Yeager seems to be responding, with occasionally brutal honesty, to every single question asked of him. Some samples are viewable below.
