Clinton Surrogate on New Sanders Ad: Seems Like ‘Black Lives Don’t Matter’ to Him
David Brock, the founder of Media Matters and a big Hillary Clinton, is starting to attack Bernie Sanders, this time on the diversity of his newest campaign ad.
The ad, released by Sanders’ campaign today, shows off everyday Americans while the Simon and Garfunkel song “America” plays. It’s been getting a lot of praise online today.
But some people have taken an issue with one little detail: it’s basically all white people. And considering that Sanders has been making minority outreach an important part of his campaign, some people were a little bothered by that.
But leave it to Brock to go the extra mile. Here’s what he told the AP:
On Thursday, David Brock, a top Clinton ally, criticized a new ad from Sanders, saying it presents a “bizarre” image of America, focused on white voters.
Brock, a long-time Clinton supporter who runs several progressive groups aiding her candidacy said Thursday that a new Sanders ad was a, “significant slight to the Democratic base.”
He added: “From this ad it seems black lives don’t matter much to Bernie Sanders.”
A Sanders spokesperson tonight fired back, bringing up Brock’s past as “a mud-slinging, right-wing extremist” and saying that Clinton “should be ashamed” of her association with him.
