Clinton’s Dig at Sanders’ ‘Free Everything’ Came Months After She Was Mad at Bush for Same Comment

While campaigning in Nevada a few days ago, Hillary Clinton ramped up her attacks on her rival for the Democratic nomination, Bernie Sanders. Since they’re the only two candidates remaining on the left, the battles have been increasing in intensity over the last few weeks. On February 19, she, like his conservative detractors, took aim at his socialist policies, claiming she isn’t running on a platform of “free this” and “free that.”

Clinton’s adversity to “free stuff” seems to be pretty freshly formed, however. Here is how she answered a question posed on Facebook in October:

Last fall, she seemed downright angered by the term when it was lobbed her way. Now, she is picking it up, dusting it off, and lobbing it herself.

International Business Times reporter David Sirota took notice of the hypocrisy himself, producing a link to a New York Times piece from September detailing how “deeply insulting” Clinton found it when Jeb Bush claimed Democrats pander to black communities by offering “free stuff.”

In that article, she is quoted saying the following:

I think people are seeing this for what it is: Republicans’ lecturing people of color instead of offering real solutions to help people get ahead, including facing up to hard truths about race and justice in America.

Remember, when politicians are taking shots at one another directly, no matter which side they’re on and which side you’re on, you must consume it all with a whole shaker of salt.
