CNN: Charlie Crist Cannot Have His Small Fan at Our Debate

Charlie Crist will just have to sweat it out during his debate against Florida Gov. Rick Scott next week. CNN, which is hosting it, is not allowing any small electric fans.

Scott made news Wednesday when he initially refused to come on stage for a scheduled debate with Crist, who had plugged in a personal fan underneath is podium. Scott’s campaign had said it did not agree to “electronic” items being used during the debate, though Crist’s team maintains it had alerted debate organizers of that a fan would be utilized.

There won’t be any confusion for the next time the two candidates meet, according to

The candidates were sent a memo on October 8 outlining the format, rules and logistical information for the debate. Among those rules: No electronic devices.

The memo stated: “There will be no opening and closing statements, no notes, no props and no electronic devices will be allowed on stage. Candidates will be provided water, notepad and pen,” a CNN spokesperson said Thursday.

The CNN spokesperson said electronic devices range from a cell phone to a fan.

Sorry, Charlie.

Crist, however, will still participate.

“We’ll never avoid a debate over a fan,” one of his campaign advisers told the Florida Sun-Sentinel.
