CNN, Fox News, and MSNBC Anchors Have Not Been Able to Book Single Republican

Shepard Smith, Chuck Todd, and Wolf Blitzer are three of the most high-profile hosts on cable news. Seldom do any of the three have trouble booking guests.

But oddly enough, none of the three were able to book a single Republican on Wednesday.

Strange, no?

It wasn’t for lack of trying — according to the anchors. It was just apparent to Shepard Smith that no Republican of any stature had a desire to defend President Donald Trump following his incendiary comments on Charlottesville Tuesday.

“Our booking team reached out to Republicans of all stripes across the country today,” Smith said. “Let’s be honest. Republicans don’t mind coming on Fox News channel. We couldn’t get anyone to come and defend him here. We thought in balance, someone should do that. We worked very hard at it throughout the day. We were unsuccessful.”

Todd reported that all 52 Republican Senators turned down an invite to appear on MTP: Daily

“We invited every single Republican senator on this program tonight, all 52,” Todd said. “We asked roughly a dozen house Republicans including a bunch of committee chairs and we asked a half-dozen officials and none of them agreed to discuss this issue with us today.”

And according to Wolf Blitzer, The Situation Room bookers proved equally unsuccessful.

“We did reach out to Republican leaders throughout the day,” Blitzer said. “They all at least for now refused to join us, but the invitation is clearly still very much open.”
