CNN Releases Statement After Criticism Over Report on Reddit User: Assertion of Blackmail ‘False’

CNN released a statement after receiving a lot of online criticism over its reporting last night on the Reddit user who claimed credit for that clip of President Trump fighting the CNN logo.

The user HanAssholeSolo ended up apologizing, and last night CNN’s KFILE posted a report about this user that included the following (emphasis added):

CNN is not publishing “HanA**holeSolo’s” name because he is a private citizen who has issued an extensive statement of apology, showed his remorse by saying he has taken down all his offending posts, and because he said he is not going to repeat this ugly behavior on social media again. In addition, he said his statement could serve as an example to others not to do the same.

CNN reserves the right to publish his identity should any of that change.

As a result, #CNNBlackmail took off as a major Twitter trend last night. The network has now released a statement saying that the blackmail charge is false:
