CNN Strikes Back at Trump Over Slams on Acosta: ‘We Stand Behind Jim,’ POTUS Attacks are ‘Disturbingly Un-American’
CNN has offered a rebuke to the jabs President Donald Trump made against the network and their chief White House correspondents in his barnburner of a press conference on Wednesday.
Trump had an explosive tete-a-tete with Jim Acosta at the White House — calling the reporter a “rude,” “terrible person” and adding, “CNN should be ashamed of itself having you working for them.” When Acosta tried to ask about the recent attempted mail bombing campaign allegedly carried out by one of his supporters, Trump retorted “When you report fake news, you are the enemy of the people.”
CNN’s PR team has responded by affirming their support for Acosta, denouncing his “disturbingly un-American” attacks on the free press and saying his “dangerous” slams have “gone too far.”
