Things got all kinds of heated tonight during a panel discussion surrounding the big news of President Donald Trump canning FBI Director James Comey.
During the conversation, CNN political analyst David Gregory made the point that this was all ridiculous because we already have an attorney general who has recused himself from any investigations into Russia, yet the AG didn’t inform the president that it was inappropriate to fire the head of the FBI while the bureau is investigating his campaign.
Former Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli jumped in, calling that “absurd,” causing Gregory to fire back, asking his fellow panelist how that was absurd.
When Cuccinelli began to go into an explanation about how those who run agencies actually don’t run investigations, Gregory attempted to stop him. When Cuccinelli kept talking, Gregory was apoplectic.
“No, no, no, you interrupted me,” he exclaimed. “I will finish my point!”
With the two shouting over each other, host Anderson Cooper tried to play moderator, telling Cuccinelli to “stop” and to “let him finish.”
Both men would continue to go back and forth for a couple of minutes, with Gregory at one point accusing the one-time Republican Virginia gubernatorial nominee of falling back on talking points “similar to what Kellyanne Conway said.” (Conway had been interviewed by Cooper a short time prior.)
