#CocksNotGlocks Takes Over Texas College Protesting Open Carry Laws With Dildos
Back in June, Texas governor Greg Abbott signed two “open carry” bills that would expand the rights of licensed owners to bring guns onto college campuses next year. Apparently however, a group of students at University of Texas are less than pleased with the development, and have started a protest by attaching sex toys onto their backpacks.
The Houston Chronicle reported that Jessica Jin stared the Cocks Not Glocks campaign in order to point out how the state has tough laws on sexual expression, but the bills will free up guns at schools.
“You’re carrying a gun to class? Yeah well I’m carrying a HUGE DILDO,” Jin wrote on the campaign’s Facebook page. “Just about as effective at protecting us from sociopathic shooters, but much safer for recreational play.”
USA Today reported that the university’s obscenity policy is “no person or organization will distribute or display on the campus any writing or visual image, or engage in any public performance, that is obscene … as defined in Texas Penal Code, Section 43.21 or successor provisions.”
Over five thousand people have said that when the law goes into effect in August of next year, they will be attending a “strap-in” to protest the legal citations under this law and others.
“ANYBODY can participate in solidarity…Come one dildo, come all dildos,” Jin wrote. “Participate at your own risk…but can you imagine the gongshow that would be UTPD/APD trying to chase down thousands of students wielding harmless dildos around campus?”
