Cohen Reportedly Sending ‘Smoke Signal’ To Trump With Talk That He May Flip: ‘I Need Help’

Wednesday morning’s top story has undoubtedly been the report from ABC’s George Stephanopoulos that Michael Cohen — President Donald Trump‘s lawyer — is parting ways with his attorneys and is on the verge of cooperating with Federal authorities. The ABC report has been corroborated by The New York Times and CNN.

But could this all be a ruse on the part of Cohen just to get the president to come to his rescue?

According to Vanity Fair’s Gabriel Sherman, a Cohen ally claims that the lawyer is signaling to Trump that he needs his aid.

“Person close to Cohen says he hasn’t flipped yet, ‘he’s sending up a smoke signal to Trump: I need help.'”

Trump, of course, has been on a recent pardoning spree — with conservative pundit Dinesh D’Souza and former Dick Cheney chief of staff Scooter Libby among those granted official absolution by the president of late. Now, Cohen it seems, is angling for Trump to intervene in his case as well.
