Stephen Colbert emerged from late night hibernation at the CBS upfronts today to crack up the Tiffany network’s advertisers and catch everyone up on what he’s been doing over break.
Colbert’s presentation started out with a pre-taped bit in which he got pretty damn enthusiastic about CBS’ programming:
The CBS Upfront is showing a taped Stephen Colbert comedy sketch, the premise of which is that he watches shows on CBS.

The future CBS host, of course, had some zingers ready (including one about how “Tiffany network” was named for Bill Paley‘s favorite stripper) and spoke of honoring the man he is following in the footsteps of:

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert will premiere on September 8th. Letterman’s final show is exactly one week from today.
