Colbert Hypes New Show, Talks About Honoring Letterman at CBS Upfronts


Stephen Colbert emerged from late night hibernation at the CBS upfronts today to crack up the Tiffany network’s advertisers and catch everyone up on what he’s been doing over break.

Colbert’s presentation started out with a pre-taped bit in which he got pretty damn enthusiastic about CBS’ programming:

And in case you’re wondering what Colbert’s been doing since he left The Colbert Report in December, he shared some brief highlights (warning: one of these images might break the internet):

The future CBS host, of course, had some zingers ready (including one about how “Tiffany network” was named for Bill Paley‘s favorite stripper) and spoke of honoring the man he is following in the footsteps of:

Oh, and this is how Colbert welcomed network president Les Moonves to the stage:

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert will premiere on September 8th. Letterman’s final show is exactly one week from today.
