Construction Stopped as Dakota Access Pipeline Will be Re-Routed

dakota-access-pipelineeditedAccording to MSNBC, the Secretary of the Army Corps of Engineers has informed the Standing Rock Sioux that the current route for the Dakota Access Pipeline will be denied. Therefore, it will now not run near the Missouri River reservoir that has led to protesters encamping near the construction site and be re-routed.

David Archambault, chairman of the Standing Rock Sioux, spoke to NBC News shortly after he was informed of the decision.

“You know, I’m just thankful that there were some leaders in the federal government who realized there was something that’s not right even though it’s legal,” he said. “For the first time in history American Indian issue, heard our voices, and had the courage to take initiative and make the right decision.”

When asked if this meant it was all over, Archambault agreed that it was.

“I would say that it’s over,” he remarked.

Recently, thousands of veterans arranged to travel to the protest site to assist the tribe and its supporters. One notable vet who made the journey was Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-HI).
