Cop Talks Suicidal Man Off Bridge by Bonding With Him Over Mutual Dallas Cowboys Hatred

Master Patrol Officer Michael Blackmore of Columbia, SC had a simple strategy when he approached a suicidal man sitting on the ledge of a bridge. The officer told South Carolina newspaper The State that he “just wanted to get his mind off of what was bothering him.”

Apparently, it was the Dallas Cowboys.

Watch the video below, via The State, in which officer Blackmore broaches the subject of football with the man, and gets him off the bridge soon after bringing up his hatred of America’s team.

“I’ll see you one day next week sometime,” Blackmore said to the man. “And I’ll say ‘How ’bout those Redskins?’ I’m definitely gonna pull for them when they play Dallas, ’cause I hate Dallas.”

So did the man, evidently, because after eight minutes of talking, that was the comment that got him to take officer Blackmore’s hand and get off the bridge.

How ’bout them Cowboys?
