According to a report from Page Six, NBC’s newest superstar Megyn Kelly could continue to demonstrate her strong show of force by coanchoring the venerable morning show TODAY alongside longtime anchor Matt Lauer.
The report comes just days after it was revealed that Tamron Hall‘s contract talks with the network came to a halt; Kelly, the former Fox News nightly anchor, is taking over the slot that was been the third hour of the program.
It begs the question: what would happen to Savannah Guthrie? She recently signed a longterm deal with the Peacock (as well as had a baby) but Page Six reports that Guthrie, “could be bumped to another role or even take over Hall’s 9 a.m. slot.”
A source told Page Six, “NBC is not paying Megyn $12 to $15 million a year to be on at 9 a.m. The word is that Savannah could take the 9 a.m. slot and Megyn will go right in at 7 a.m. Andy Lack is completely behind all of this.”
The source continued, “There’s no way Megyn would have signed with NBC unless she was promised a big role down the line.”
The SVP of TODAY Noah Opppenheim however eschewed any and all suggestions of Kelly’s increased role at the expende of Guthrie. He told the New York Post in response, “”Let me say this for the last time and as clearly as possible: This is never ever going to happen.”
