Country Singer Cancels St. Louis Show over Ferguson State of Emergency

Country music singer Hunter Hayes has called off a planned concert tomorrow in St. Louis, Missouri after the governor declared a state of emergency in anticipation of unrest in Ferguson.

The Ferguson grand jury is expected to say this week whether Officer Darren Wilson will be charged in the shooting death of Michael Brown or not, and Governor Jay Nixon decided to order a state of emergency in case there’s potential violence following a decision.

So in response, this message appeared on Hayes’ website about a planned concert at Chaifetz Arena in St. Louis:

Out of respect for Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon’s declaration declaring a state of emergency in Missouri, Hunter Hayes’ Thursday, November 20 show at Chaifetz Arena in St. Louis has been cancelled. Tickets will be reimbursed at the point of purchase. At this time, all other University related events at Saint Louis University this week are planned to go on as scheduled. Hunter assures his fans that he will be back to St. Louis in 2015.
