Sen. Ted Cruz continued to inflame his feud with New York City’s progressive mayor Bill de Blasio, in a new radio ad that asserts: “When Cruz is president, De Blasio is done.”
“I think Ted Cruz is out of touch with New York state and New York City,” de Blasio said in remarks which are quoted in the ad. The radio spot goes on to blast the mayor for being a “socialist,” for treating “cops like criminals and criminals like freedom fighters,” and for peddling “soft on terror, criminal-coddling policies.”
The announcer also invokes the ongoing investigation into de Blasio’s campaign fundraising by insinuating that de Blasio is corrupt: “Cruz will instruct the Justice Department to hold corrupt politicians accountable. Maybe that’s why de Blasio fears Ted Cruz.”
Cruz is is coming in last in New York polls and has repeatedly tried to undo the damage of his “New York values” comment by claiming that the smear was aimed solely at liberal democrats, media figures, and Donald Trump.
