Current TV Hires Crisis PR Firm That Steered Clinton Administration Through Scandal
With the Keith Olbermann/Current TV battle looking imminent, it seems the network is full-swing with preparation. The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Current TV has hired the crisis public relations firm Fabiani & Lehane. The firm that happened to steer the Clinton administration through its infamous political scandal.
Now that Eliot Spitzer has officially replaced Olbermann — who’s promised to take legal action against the network — Current TV looks like it’s expecting a tough battle. From The Hollywood Reporter:
Veterans of the Clinton administration, Mark Fabiani and Chris Lehane specialize in steering politicians through public scandals. Newsweek dubbed them “Masters of Disaster” for their work on behalf of the Clintons during the Whitewater and Monica Lewinsky imbroglios.
Fabiani also represented Lance Armstrong amid a federal probe over allegations about performance-enhancing drugs. And Lehane has a relationship with Current co-founder Al Gore, serving as deputy campaign manager on Gore’s ill-fated 2000 presidential bid. Fabiani & Lehane also represented the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers during the 2007 Writers Guild strike.
As the post states, the legal battle’s bound to be “very public” — so we’ll definitely be watching.
