Dan Abrams: Only Explanation Why Manafort Would Lie to FBI and Mueller is ‘He’s Begging For a Pardon!’

There is — according to Dan Abrams — only one remotely conceivable reason that Paul Manafort would lie to the FBI and special counsel Robert Mueller:

It’s all about a pardon.

During the closing segment of his SiriusXM show on Thursday, Abrams — the founder of Mediaite — argued that there is no other logical reason for President Donald Trump‘s former campaign chair to nullify his plea agreement by lying.

“The only conclusion that I can draw as to why Manafort would keep lying about this is Manafort wants a pardon, ” Abrams said. “There is no other rational explanation for what Manafort is doing! He is begging for a pardon!”

Former Federal prosecutor Elliot Williams, appearing as a guest on the SiriusXM show, concurred with Abrams.

“There is absolutely no explanation for this,” Williams said. He added, “Either he thought he could lie and get away with it, or, he thought, ‘Hey, if I get caught…there’s nothing to worry about because I’ll be taken care of in the form of a presidential pardon.'”

Abrams completely dismissed the idea that Manafort somehow thought he could get away with lying.

“He’s cut a deal at this point with prosecutors,” Abrams said. “He knows that they know everything about what happened.”
