This morning, President Donald Trump took to Twitter to declare that there would be “NO MORE DACA DEAL” while railing against Mexico, stating that the country needs to stop the flow of drugs and people into the United States or he’ll stop their “cash cow, NAFTA.”
Unsurprisingly, Trump’s tweets appeared to be inspired by a Fox & Friends segment that covered a BuzzFeed report about a “caravan of Central Americans” who are headed for the US border. The story also noted that “no one in Mexico dares to stop them,” something that has received a lot of attention in conservative media, eventually finding its way into Trump’s Easter Sunday Twitter tweets.
Appearing on MSNBC today, Rep. Steve Cohen (D-TN) tore into the president for essentially live-tweeting Fox News.
After host Alex Witt played a clip of diplomat and former New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson stating the facts don’t support the president’s tweets and he appears to just be reacting to television, Cohen was asked if he was concerned that the president’s remarks could hurt the “fragile US-Mexico relationship.”
“It makes me concerned about the fragile grip on reality that the president has,” Cohen exclaimed. “This is all fantasy. It’s either Fox News or it’s fantasy.”
Cohen also commented on Trump parroting his tweets while heading into church
