shutterstock_86513332Former NBA star Dennis Rodman has been charged with four misdemeanors by Orange County, CA prosecutors — in connection with an incident this June in which he allegedly drove on the wrong side of the freeway and was involved in a hit and run.

According to a CNN report, Rodman allegdly drove the wrong way directly towards another car. The other driver swerved to avoid contact and crashed into a concrete wall as a result.

Rodman was also charged with lying to police and driving without a valid license. He faces as much as two years in prison, according to police.

The LA Times reports that police claim Rodman stopped briefly, but did not exchange information with the other driver. The other driver was not seriously injured.

Paul S. Meyer, Rodman’s attorney, gave a statement to the LA Times in which he expressed confidence that the case would be resolved in his client’s favor.

“Mr. Rodman turned and corrected the driving error, stopped and spoke with the people in the other car,” he said. “Their cars never touched. We look forward to a discussion of all of the facts.”
