Black Lives Matter activist DeRay Mckesson is suing the city of Baton Rouge over his arrest during a protest on the evening of Jul. 9.
Mckesson was arrested while participating in protests following the police shooting that resulted in the death of Alton Sterling.
His arrest was captured live and broadcasted online via Periscope (below).

Mckesson was released the next day. He told reporters at the time, “I am disappointed with the Baton Rouge police who provoked protestors who were peacefully protesting.”
