Devin Nunes Brushes Off CNN’s Manu Raju By Exclaiming ‘Democracy Dies in Darkness’

CNN’s Manu Raju had a busy Tuesday morning on the Hill. We already highlighted how he pressed Speaker of the House Paul Ryan on whether the Nunes memo vindicated President Donald Trump, only to see Ryan laughably avoid his questions. He also tried to get answers from Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) himself. And not only did he get the cold shoulder, but he received a handful of snark to boot.

Following a GOP conference meeting, Nunes was asked by Raju if the White House had any role in the composition of his document that purportedly shows FISA abuses by the FBI and DOJ in the Russia probe. Nunes swiftly walked on by, but not before tossing this little soundbite Raju’s way:

“Democracy dies in darkness, my friend. Get to work.”

Yep, Nunes quoted the Washington Post’s slogan, obviously in an attempt to make a point about how he’s fighting for transparency with his current crusade.

In an interview with Fox News’ Sean Hannity last night, Nunes complained about the mainstream media, claiming that the reason they aren’t more captivated and shocked by his findings is due to his belief that they’re “basically part” of the Democrats’ team.
