One of the prominent narratives the Obama campaign has used against Mitt Romney and the GOP ticket is that neither he nor running-mate Paul Ryan will give specifics about their $5 trillion tax plan, including the many tax loopholes they plan to close in order to increase revenue and cut the federal deficit.
To illustrate this view of Romney/Ryan’s plan, the Democratic National Committee has created a faux-Romney campaign website dedicated to giving you the details of the GOP ticket’s tax plan.
“For a detailed explanation of how the Romney-Ryan tax plan is able to cut taxes by $5 trillion without raising taxes on the middle class or exploding the deficit, simply click the button below,” reads the website text, with a big red button reading “GET THE DETAILS.”
When viewers attempt to click the red button, however, it side-steps and dodges the computer cursor, making it virtually impossible to actually “get the details” about Romney’s tax plan.
If you do happen to catch the red button, it takes you to an Obama campaign website that criticizes the Romney tax plan as tantamount to a “middle class tax hike.”
And just in case anyone was fooled by the Romney campaign masthead, it is clearly a spoof once you notice the “Half of” scribbled as an addendum to the motto “Believe in America.”
