In the same press conference Wednesday morning where he called Barack Obama the “most ignorant president in our history,” Donald Trump excoriated the Democratic VP nominee Tim Kaine for his nonexistent past as a New Jersey politician.
“Tim Kaine, who by the way did a terrible job in New Jersey,” Trump began, before a reporter corrected him.
Sen. Kaine has served as mayor of Richmond and governor of Virginia — but has not held political office in New Jersey. Many noted that Trump was likely confusing Kaine with former New Jersey Gov. Tom Kean.
Trump also referred to Ronald Reagan‘s would-be assassin John Hinckley as “David Hinckley.”
Tim Kaine was a bad governor of New Jersey in the same way I was a bad governor of New Jersey
