Since the cancelation of one of his rallies this evening, Donald Trump has been on a major cable news tear, calling into just about every show in the coveted Friday evening slots.
On Hardball with Chris Matthews, Trump hastily insisted he shouldn’t have had to be prepared for a protest of the size he faced tonight, but later, when talking to Don Lemon on CNN, he said that he and his team had been prepared for something just like this. He echoed what he said earlier on MSNBC about not wanting to see anyone hurt.
He also made statements similar to ones made by Megyn Kelly, who has gone on the record to say that First Amendment rights were violated by the protesters.
Then, he said, “I think it’s is a divided country. I think we have a very divided country, Don. It’s been that way for a long time and that’s very sad to see. It’s divided among many different groups and frankly, it’s terrible.”
Judging by the way his spokesperson and a Muslim pundit went at it just before the rally was set to start, that is an understatement.
