Donald Trump, Whose Show Was Not Nominated for Anything, Hated the Emmys
“Emmy Awards show was terrible last night,” Trump tweeted Tuesday. “Same shows winning over and over again (politics). Amazing Race a joke. Host Seth Meyers bombed!”
CBS’s The Amazing Race won for best reality competition program. Trump’s own reality competition show, NBC’s The Celebrity Apprentice, was not even nominated, a delicate fact that may be at the root of Trump’s Twitter tantrum.
Celebrity Apprentice has only been nominated once, in 2009, for “outstanding editing.” The prior incarnation of the show, simply The Apprentice, was nominated eight times. It has not, however, ever won an Emmy.
Prior to this year’s awards show, Trump made clear that he still has it out for Meyers. “That Seth Meyers is hosting the Emmy Awards is a total joke,” Trump tweeted. “He is very awkward with almost no talent. Marbles in his mouth!”
Trump retweeted several of his followers who also weren’t tickled by Meyers’s performance at the Emmys. “Seth Meyers just set the Emmys back 30 years!” Trump would include with the retweets. “Terrible.”
