The Arkansas Department of Human Services launched a new investigation into the Duggar family last month, following Josh Duggar‘s admission to sexually molesting his sisters and another girl as a teenager. The Duggars have appeared on TV recently in order to give their side of the story, but they never mentioned the investigation, or the allegations released on Wednesday that they previously refused to cooperate.

In Touch Weekly referenced a FOIA request that turned up the transcript of a 911 call on May 27, indicating that a DHS officer requested police assistance when Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar would not allow him to see one of their children. “We have an investigation and I guess they’re not being cooperative,” the caller allegedly said to dispatch. “We have to see the child to make sure the child is all right. So we just need police assistance.” The report did not specifically mention which child the DHS agent wanted to see, or why.

Josh was sent to a Christian counseling program in 2003 when he told his parents about his

behavior. The family reported the incident to a state trooper, who allegedly said that Josh wouldn’t have further punishment since he already sought therapy.

The DHS first investigated Josh Duggar for child molestation in 2007, as a follow-up to Jim Bob’s admission the previous year. The initial reports were never taken to court after Josh Duggar threatened to sue the DHS for investigating him after the statute of limitations had expired.

DHS records are not usually publicly accessible, and the Department has refused to offer any comments. In Touch reported, however, that investigations can be be authorized by phone call, even anonymously, by operator discretion if the allegations entail a serious violation of child maltreatment laws. It is currently unknown which allegations the DHS is pursuing with their investigation, but legislative testimony provided by state police indicated that their request was, indeed, accepted.
