Earnest: We Can’t ‘Light Our Hair on Fire Every Time’ a ‘Setback’ Like Ramadi Happens
ISIS seized the Iraqi town of Ramadi earlier this week, leading to some questions about whether the U.S. strategy against ISIS is working. CBS’ Bill Plante pressed White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest on the matter today, asking if it isn’t just “a little silly” to go with the “you win some, you lose some” defense.
Earnest, who talked a lot about Ramadi being a “setback” earlier in the briefing, asked, “Are we gonna light our hair on fire every time that there is a setback in the campaign against ISIL?”
He also expressed a teeny bit of annoyance at how the media covers those setbacks, but not so much the U.S. victories. He continued to tout how American military power is being utilized effectively in the campaign against ISIS.
