Eric Holder Rejects Michelle Obama’s Slogan: ‘When They Go Low, We Kick ‘Em’
It seems former Attorney General Eric Holder is echoing Hillary Clinton‘s idea that civility in political discourse is out of the question in today’s era.
Speaking at an event for Georgia state House candidate Regina Lewis-Ward, Holder said the elections are about sending a message that America is a better and more tolerant country than President Donald Trump and the GOP would suggest.
And then, Holder went on to reject the famous slogan of former First Lady Michelle Obama.
“They have used the power they have gotten for all the wrong things…It is time for us as Democrats to be as tough as they are, to be as dedicated as they are, to be as committed as they are…Michelle always says, ‘When they go low, we go high.’ No. No. When they go low, we kick ’em. That’s what this new Democratic Party is all about. We’re proud as hell to be Democrats, we’re willing to fight for the ideals of the Democratic party. we’re proud of our history, we’re proud of our present, and we’re proud of the future we can create for this country. We are not in this just to make a statement, we’re in this to win.”
Holder’s comments come just after an interview with Clinton in which the former Secretary of State said, “you cannot be civil with a political party that wants to destroy what you stand for, what you care about.” The remarks from the former Democratic presidential candidate have been met with significant outrage among the right.
