EU President Roasts Trump Over NATO Complaints: ‘Appreciate Your Allies…You Don’t Have That Many’

European Union president Donald Tusk is in Brussels to participate in NATO’s summit this week, and he’s warning Donald Trump to stop picking fights with America’s allies before the meetings.

In a joint declaration event with NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg, Tusk responded to Trump’s latest complaints that NATO’s member nations rip off the U.S. by not doing more to fund the defensive alliance. Since Trump will also meet with Vladimir Putin during his trip through Europe, Tusk is telling Trump to stop antagonizing America’s allies, saying “it is always worth knowing who is your strategic friend and who is your strategic problem.”

“Dear America, appreciate your allies,” Tusk said. “After all, you don’t have that many.”

Tusk went on to rebuke Trump for saying that Europe doesn’t do enough to pay for its own defense, and for saying European nations rely on America for protection from international threats.
