FBI Obtains Warrant to Examine Clinton Emails Discovered on Abedin-Weiner Laptop
Numerous media outlets report that the FBI has received the warrant it needed to review the newly-discovered emails that were deemed “pertinent” to the investigation on Hillary Clinton and her private email server.
While FBI Director James Comey did not provide many details about the new content in his letter, it was confirmed that these emails were found on a device belonging to top Clinton aide, Huma Abedin. The FBI was examining this device in connection to the sexting scandal for Abedin’s estranged husband, Anthony Weiner.
When Comey released his letter to Congress on Friday, Weiner’s laptop computer was only being search for evidence that he sent obscene messages to an underage girl. With the FBI’s new warrant, they will be able to look through the reported 650,000 emails present in order to search for any new information connected to Clinton’s actions as secretary of state.
