‘F*ck It,’ At Least They’re Trying: Adam Carolla Defends NSA Surveillance
On his podcast this week, comedian and frequent O’Reilly Factor guest Adam Carolla defended the National Security Agency’s surveillance operations by saying that “at least they’re trying” to stop terrorism attacks, as opposed to doing nothing at all.
“We want to look for words like ‘al Qaeda,’ ‘bomb,’ their keywords,” Carolla said. “I’m fine with that.” He skeptically asked his co-panelists: “Do you know anyone who’s had their door kicked in?”
He then compared the NSA to his seven-year-old twin boys who attempted to wash his car one weekend, but ultimately “fucked things up.” But, he said, “they were trying to help daddy clean the truck,” much like the government, despite its flaws, is doing the “right” thing.
“Fuck it,” he said of the NSA uproar. “Even if they do a shitty job, fuck it.” At least they’re trying, he concluded.
