Federalist Writer Praises Trump’s Attacks on Press: Media Coverage of Bomb Threats ‘Unhinged and Insane’
Mollie Hemingway, writer for a website known for a story accusing Obama of flashing his boner to a plane full of people, agreed with President Donald Trump that mainstream media disinformation is fueling anger in the world a day after a pipe bomb was delivered to CNN.
It wasn’t long before Trump took aim at the media for the pipe bombs being sent to the network and liberal political figures. At a rally Thursday night, Trump called on the media “to set a civil tone and to stop the endless hostility and constant negative and oftentimes false attacks and stories.”
In a tweet Thursday morning, he blamed the media for the “Anger we see today in our society.”
“A very big part of the Anger we see today in our society is caused by the purposely false and inaccurate reporting of the Mainstream Media that I refer to as Fake News,” he wrote. “It has gotten so bad and hateful that it is beyond description.”
“Well, I think he has a message that very much resonates with the American people,” Hemingway said in response to Trump’s tweets. “That our media are not contributing to civility, and that they are not doing a good job of just accurately telling the news.”
“And I think even with these suspicious packages, you are seeing a failure of responsible media coverage,” she continued. “So much speculation without even knowing. I mean we don’t even know if the person doing this is American or a foreign terrorist, we don’t know anything at all.”
“And yet you’re having people in major media organizations literally blaming Donald Trump for this. That is unhinged and insane and it’s not appropriate behavior for any media,” she concluded.
