‘Fix Mess’: President Trump Calls For September Government Shutdown in New Tweet

trump-pelosiedited

Congress recently averted a government shutdown with a deal on a $1 trillion bill to fund the government through the end of the fiscal year on September 30.

But when that deal lapses, a shutdown might be on the table again, especially if President Donald Trump has his way.

The President fired off a pair of Tweets Tuesday morning in which he again complained about Senate rules, and went on to call for a government shutdown in order to “fix mess.”

Trump has repeatedly praised totalitarian leaders who have much more power in their governments than the President has in the United States. This latest call for a government shutdown in order to coerce a Senate rules change, appears to be part of an effort to gain more power for the executive branch.
